The social progress and fast economic growth in our country allow more people to receive highereducation and enable the institutes of higher education to enroll more graduates, which pose a big challengeto these institutes. There are both opportunities and challenges for the graduates majoring in physicaleducation and training because of the society’s increasing demand for top-level talents on the one hand andthe quality uncertainty of the master’s education on the another. How to ensure the quality of the master’seducation is now a social hot issue. The populous Henan province is renowned in science, technology and education and enjoysabundant education resources. It is worthwhile to think about how to enhance the overall ability of thegraduates of physical education and training and accelerate the reform of their education, which willunderpin the comprehensive power and competiveness of Henan province.Based on the literature, survey, mathematical statistics, interview and logical analysis and othermethods, the thesis studies the education of graduates majoring in physical education and training fromfour sports colleges of Henan province, Henan University, Zhengzhou University, Physical EducationCollege of Zhengzhou University and Henan Normal University and investigates several aspects of theirphysical education such as educating objectives, graduates’ basic information, supervisors, curriculum, years of education and research areas. The thesis intends to find out the shortcomings of the physicaleducation and training of Henan province, analyze various factors that affect the education of the physicaleducation and training and propose some remedies for improving the graduates’ education. It is hoped thatthe thesis will provide some useful theoretical advice for the institutes of graduates’ education and relativeadministrative departments both at provincial and national levels in educating the graduates of physicaleducation and training.Research conclusions:1Although the overall situation of the enrolment is good, the mode of examination puts undueemphasis on the planned examination, ignoring the overall ability of students. There is a lack of inherentinitiative for students to attend the postgraduate entrance examination.2The goal of postgraduate education represents wholeness, but lacks emphasis on certain keypoints. Schools don’t have their special characteristics. The goal of the education is hard to be achieved and the education did not give guidance for the future development of students. A flexible educational systemis not implemented.3As for the structure of supervisoes, there is a concentration of ages and titles and a lack ofyoung interdisciplinary supervisors. In addition, due to students’ inadequate preparation and instructors’preoccupation with their job the communications between students and supervisors is less desirable.4. The curriculum basically fits postgraduate study; however, the content of the courses is notforward-looking and there are many similar courses that have been studied in their undergraduate study. The optional courses for postgraduates are not diverse and there is no close relation between the curriculumand physical practice which make most of postgraduates unsatisfied.5As for the professional quality, most of the postgraduates have passed athlete-related exams orattained referee certificates, but few of them can give high-level performance. Most of them are poor inforeign languages, and their computer skills are only in the basic level. They are not good at scientificresearch. They publish papers only to meet school requirements. Most of the students rarely participate inresearch and practical activities.6Overall, the employment situation is increasingly grim, leaving more and more limited choicesfor postgraduates. Postgraduates’ participation in social practice is limited, so their theory can hardly beapplied to the practice. However, most of postgraduates are fully prepared for future employment. Schools, government departments and public institutions are the top three employment intentions.Suggestions: Strengthen the cultivation of postgraduates’ ability of scientific research; withpractical objects, schools should actively enhance the communications between postgraduates and theirsupervisors and consider the implementation of a system in which the students can reselect theirsupervisors every half year; reform curriculum to reflect the professional characteristics and put emphasison practice, inventiveness, and professional skills; create conditions and opportunities for postgraduates toobtain athletes and referees certificates; highlight learning and practical use of foreign languages; focus onthe cultivation and evaluation of postgraduates’ ability to combine theory with practice; and postgraduatesshould actively make plans for their study and daily lives during their postgraduate study, and fuse it intotheir whole career plan.
