A Study On The Employment Outlook Of College Students: Problems And Countermeasures From The Perspective Of Ant Phenomenon

In recent years the scale of the higher education unceasingly expands and explodes inChina with the number of college graduates growing from 1.15 million in 2001 to 6.6 millionin 2011. And the number of college graduates has been increasing year by year. Consequently,the employment pressure of college students also increases gradually with the expandingenrollment, which embraces and witnesses a stiff employment environment. Some graduatesare reduced to be "ants" with low-income who live in suburbs of cities. Peking UniversityScholar Lian Si names the group the "ants".This study uses the investigation and statistics Lian Si has presented for reference. The"ant" life situation and their state of mind are analyzed to find out the existing problems ofcontemporary graduates: immature employment mentality, high employment expectation andbackward employment countermeasures. On the basis of employment problems this studymakes an analysis and proposes the solutions as well.This thesis mainly consists of five chapters:Chapter one introduces the background of the study, together with its significance andliterature review. Chapter two defines the relevant concepts. Chapter three uses for referencethe investigation and statistics of life circumstances of "ants "and their state of mind anddraws a conclusion about the current circumstances of the positive aspects of employmentvalues and the existing problems. Chapter four probes the reasons into for the existingquestion with the employment values. This paper holds that the formation and change of theemployment values can be obviously influenced by society, higher education, family and thestudents themselves. Chapter five puts forward the specific answers and countermeasures to changing employment values of graduates from perspectives of social environment, collegeeducation, family education and university students self education in order to achieve anin-depth study. And this study is also expected to help college students to have reasonableemployment values and to provide some clues for ideological and political education incollege.
