Along with our country’s speedy economic development, to vigorously developvocational education has become an important strategy for the educational reform anddevelopment. Since reform and opening up, the secondary vocational education hasbeen developed in a good situation. National vocational education meetings have beenheld for many times since the new century, and higher requirements have been raisedto speed up the development of vocational education. Speeding up the development ofsecondary vocational education is especially emphasized by the Decision of the StateCouncil on Speeding up Vocational Education Development. Chinese–Premier WenJiabao pointed out that to develop the secondary vocational education is a veryimportant and urgent task during the eleventh“five-year”. And the Report on theseventeenth national congress of the CPC also stressed the same point.However, the secondary vocational education has to be confronted with manydifficult problems during the developing period such as the students’drop-out. It is abarrier to the survival and development of the secondary vocational education if agreat number of students drop out of school. Now, the students’drop-out is the mostserous problem the secondary vocational education faces. Thus, to improve theteaching quality and lower the rate of the drop-out students becomes urgent andpractical. Investigation, analysis and research on the problem will enable theeducation of the secondary vocational education to play a greater role in thedevelopment of the local economy. The study will be of great theoretical and practicalsignificance.Based on the case of Tengzhou secondary vocational education, this paperinvestigates the drop-out in the school and analyses the main reasons for thisphenomenon and makes some suggestions on how to reduce the rate of drop-out in thesecondary vocational education.This paper consists of four parts. The first is the introduction, in which theauthor defines clearly the questions to be studied and several important concepts.Meanwhile, the significance of the study, the study background, the study aims and methods have keen expounded. In the second part, taking Tengzhou Secondaryvocational Education as an example, the author does some research on the problemabout students’drop-out from the school, pointing out the negative effects of theproblem. The third part analyzes the main reasons to cause it.
