However, under the background of expansion of university enrolmentin the last decade, deaf graduates experienced ever-increasing employment pressure, which ismore severe than normal college graduates, because of the social discrimination upon them.At present, an important topic of deaf-higher-education research is how to provide bettereducation for deaf graduates and to protect their rights and interests by increasing deafgraduate’s employment index.Under the framework of Career decision-making self-efficacy theory, the presentdissertation tried to study the influence of deaf college student’s self-efficacy over theireffectiveness of solving the difficulties in career selection behaviors by surveying 411 deafcollege students from TianJin University of Technology and ChangChun University. The result indicated that:(1) Even though the whole level of career decision-making self-efficacy of deaf collegestudents is above the middle, the level of deaf college students is significantly lower than thatof normal college students, no matter in whole scale nor in each sub-dimension.(2) On the common population variables such as grades, majors and hometown, there areno significant differences both in the full scale and each sub-dimension among deaf collegestudents. For the factors such as academic record, gender and only-child or not, there existsdistinct difference both on full scale and dimension of self-assessment and planning. On thedimension of aim choosing; there are significant differences in whether deaf college studentshave career experience on the full scale and dimension of self-assessment and problemsolution.(3) On some special population variables, there are no significant differences of the fullscale and each dimension between deaf college students of different hearing status andnumber of deaf friends. On the case of the number of hear friends; there are significantdifferences in the kind of high school on the full scale and dimension of informationcollection and planning. Furthermore, there exists distinct difference in the second majorstudy on dimension of self-assessment and information collection.(4)There are some possible methods to improve deaf college student’s careerdecision-making self-efficacy: strengthening the intervention on deaf college students’mentalhealth; building up deaf college students’career guidance system; introducing and extendingthe inclusive education, improving the society’s approval over the deaf college students.
