Core strength training refers to the power training of the central part inbody, the in-depth part in belly, spine and pelvis as well as the surroundingsmall muscle groups. It is always applied to rehabilitation therapy. With theimprovement of competitive level of basketball, it is more demanding forbasketball players. Nowadays, more and more people pay attention to theapplication of core strength training to the basketball players’ physical trainingas a method of improving competitive fitness, but the research on this iscomparatively rare.Fitness is a new health conception, and many schloars divide it into healthfitness and sports skills fitness, including cardio-pulmonary function, flexibility,muscle strength, reasonable body composition and so on. It also refers to thebody fitness which can win competitive advantage, including coordination,explosive strength, sensitiveness, speed and so on.The paper is based on twenty basketball players of a Changchun collegeas research object and studies their body patterning, body composition, height,weight, cardio-pulmonary function, flexibility, speed, the power of gripping,back strength, jumping level and so on before and after core strength trainingfor about ten weeks, and analyzes the respective results.The survey results shows that after ten-week core strength training, thereis no significant differences on the players’ body patterning, fat content, speed,gripping or cadio-pulmonary funciton. But core strength training adds players’thin weight of their body composition, increase the back strengh of theirmuscle fitness, and plays significant and active role in improving their muscleexplosive vertical jumping and flexible fitness.
