China Geological Survey(CGS)talent team is the main force of our national public-interestgeological survey work. Education and training(E&T) is the key to the improvement of CGStalent team. Current researches on the E&T of CGS talent team are inadequate, mainly through atop-down approach for the overall E&T demand. The generating mechanism and operating statusof E&T are seldom examined. For a deeper understanding of the generating mechanism of E&Tof CGS talent team and an evaluation of the current E&T work, following researches are to becarried out.1. Analyze the status of CGS talent team with the total scale, stuff structure and abilities,comparing with the overall development objects of CGS talent team to find the aspects that arerequired for the development of CGS talent team.2. Analyze the status of E&T of CGS with the total number, contents, means and guaranteeto find the gap between current E&T work and the demand of talent development.3. Analyze the demand of E&T of CGS with both system and content. The generatingmechanism, feedback mechanism and tracking mechanism are examined for system. Courses andmeans for content.4. Based on the status and demand, suggestions are made accordingly.Conclusions are drawn as follows.1.The establishment of the talent team of CGS has partly been done, but the status of it stilllag behind the requirement of our national public-interest geological survey work, respectively inthe total scale, structure and abilities. E&T work are required to imp rove the structure andquality of the talent team of CGS.2. The current E&T work is run regularly, but long term projects, financial aids and E&Tchannels still need improvements.3. The demand of E&T of CGS are mainly in tow aspects that are system and content.System demand refers to the improvement of the current E&T system, especially with demandmanagement, project management, guarantee management and evaluation management. Content demand refers to the direction and strength of the E&T work according to the quality structure ofthe talent team of CGS.4. Following suggestions are made accordingly. Top design should be clarified and dividedinto departmental plans. The indices concerning the development of the talent team should belinked with E&T work. Long term E&T mechanism are well needed for the talent team of CGS.
