Empathy refers to identical or similar emotional experience caused by the contrastof the individual to understand the emotions of others in the real or imaginary, which isan alternative to emotional response capability. It is a psychological process thatindividual to others as the center, identify and accept others’ opinions and be able toexperience the emotions of others. Empathy plays a vital role in the socializationprocess, especially in the moral, pro-social behavior and interpersonal relationships.This study used the questionnaire method and took a random sample of487collegestudents who are from three universities in Harbin, which testified study the relationshipbetween the college student empathy, personality and interpersonal relationships. Theconclusions were showed as follows.1. There were differences among the two demographic factors of gender andstudent cadres in part of dimensions of empathy, personality and interpersonalrelationships. It is remarkable that gender difference on fantasy, empathy concern,personal distress of empathy and neuroticism of personality; Scores on commonstudents and student cadres showed extensive difference on extraversion andconscientiousness of personality; There were obvious difference in chat, communicationwith friend and heterosexual communication of interpersonal harassment of commonstudents and student cadres.2. There was correlation among empathy, personality and interpersonalrelationships. Among them, empathy and personality were positively correlated;Empathy and interpersonal harassment were negatively correlated; Personality wasnegatively correlated to interpersonal harassment.3. Empathy from the part of the intermediary role in the personality oninterpersonal relationships.4. Intermediary model structure weight of inter-group was consistent.
