Teacher’s development is not only on the professional sides, but a comprehensive course. It is also a difficult and constant process. Through a case study of a primary school teacher’s career development, this passage shows an ordinary teacher’s growth in the social transitional period from1960to the new century. In this way to fully understand teacher’s common pursue and expand traditional sense of teacher’s career development. The passage tries to use a multi-angle to interpret, reconstruct and deduct the teacher’s career story in different stages,and then analyzes the affecting factors for her career development, and probe the interaction of hiding self-concept and career development. By this means to understand that teacher’s career development must be in certain social, cultural and historical context. It is not only the individual development, but it can be seen as the intrinsic interaction between society, individual behavior and thought.The thesis is divided into three main parts with six chapters. The first part is the first two chapters which mainly introduce the research background and foundation. The following three chapters is the second part which shows the career narrative and it is also the main part of this thesis. The third part is the sixth chapter which mainly discusses the reflections from the narrative.Chapter1, Introduction. It mainly introduces the research origin, significance, and related literature review. In the review section, it firstly defines the conception of "career" and "teacher’s career". Then it reviews empirical studies, theoretical researches and effecting factors of teacher’s career development.Chapter2, Research Design. It first identifies research topics and then expounds research methods and tools, and then shows the main step of the research, finally presents the reflection.Chapter3, Beginning Story:from Chaos to Tracing the Career. This story contains three fragments of pre-career stories, aiming at understanding the teacher’s career choice. Chapter4, Middle Story:from Collision to Success. This part is divided into five stories, depicts a teacher from the beginning hardships of being a teacher to the peak of career success. In the process of career development, she faces different struggles, but on the whole grows in a spiral.Chapter5, Current Story:from confusion to regression. This story is divided into two sections, following the previous chapter, describes the current status of the teacher to understand the career confusion of a teacher.Chapter6,Reflection from the Story. It illustrates environmental influences on the career and divides them into two aspects and creates a career development model.The author hopes that by understanding the contemporary teacher’s development to enrich teachers’ career development perspective and provides some clues to teachers.
