The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of career development curriculum on junior middle school students'career self-concept,occupational values,career maturity.This study adopted an unequal pre-test and post-test experimental design of quasi-experimental.Subjects were all the students of 7th-grade from Chongqing's junior middle school.Using the method of the whole and close at hand,they were administered"Youth Career Self-concept Scale". Two classes of them which obtained the similaer scores on the scale were selected as subjests of this study.The two classes were assigned to either the experimental group or the control group.The experimental group was treated with 10 session of group activities,one time a week,each session lasting 40 minutes.The control group did not receive any experimental treatment.This study used"Career Self-concept Scale","Junior Middle School Students'Occupational Values Scale","Youth Career Development Scale"as the assessment tools.The experimental group and control group were measured with the three scales before the experiment and after the experment.The data were analyzed with Independent-Sample T Test,so as to assess whether there existed significant differences between the scores the experimental group and the control group obtained on the scales administered before the experiment and after the experiment.In addition,the Satisfaction with Career Development Scale and the individual interview as the supplementary explanation of experimental results.Results were summarized as follows:1.The experimental group and the control group showed significant effects on career self-concept;2. The experimental group and the control group did not show significant effects on occupational values;3. The experimental group and the control group showed significant effects on career maturity.Based on this study,the researcher drew a conclusion,and concluded some limits of the study and proposed several suggestions.Calling for the junior middle school carry out career development curriculum and foster the junior middle school students'career awareness.In addition,this study hope that provide a inspriation to establish a formal career development curriculum in future and supply some information for junior middle school students'career education through the self-compiled career development curriculum in junior middle school.
