From the development of geography history, first produced cartography then system geography basic theory knowledge, this map in geography teaching in the important position. With the reform of the new curriculum, geography education is getting more and more attention to the cultivation of student ability, which interpret the images is the ability of junior middle school students should have the basic skills.In this paper based on the research results of predecessors, combined with a questionnaire survey, exploring how to use maps in regional geography teaching, for the junior high school geography curriculum reform in the process of how to map teaching with theoretical and practical guidance.First, in this paper based on the extraction of map teaching the meaning of the new definition, the map teaching in classroom teaching not only is a kind of teaching method, is also a kind of ideological penetration. It has a theoretical support and development space, not rigidly adhere to a form of classroom teaching, in the outside of the classroom can also carry out various forms of map teaching activities.Second, this paper targeted to Chinese regional geography part of the teaching materials for the comprehensive system of analysis (person teaches printing plate eight grades last of two or three volumes), this set of textbooks use the most extensive, most representative. The author of textbooks in statistical maps obtained after junior high school textbooks, maps of geographical information in more intuitive easy to find.Third, this article from the map teaching and regional geographic characteristics of two point of view to explore the problems, first of all, to make use of other auxiliary map image system teaching, secondly, training students" mental map" and the construction of regional geographical cognition structure, finally, clear regional geography study evaluation index, and the ability to use map into the index.
