Strengthen building of rural teachers system is a fundamental policy to thepromotion of the whole national education system development.Thus, in-servicerural area teachers training, as one of most effective ways to enhance professionalquality of teachers in rural areas, should and would play a more direct and effectiverole to the policy.To improve the effectiveness of rural teachers’ in-service training,the training requirements and its affecting factors should be thoroughly made out,which will provide the reasonable basis for the formulation of in-service trainingprogram, training content, and training methods.With these problems settled, themost appropriate mode of in-service training can be constructed effectively andorderly, for ensuring its availability and reliability.The thesis mainly conducted intensive investigation and research on thein-service training status quo of the rural Primary and Secondary School Teachers inXiangxi Autonomous Prefecture, making it clear that the actual in-service training ofteachers in rural areas does not play its due role to meet the training needs ofpersonal growth, and the sluggish development of in-service training to the teachersin this area is the main factors hindering their self-improvement.In analysisdimension of training requirements, the funds safeguard demand of training policiesis most intense.The different background rural teachers presented certain differencein requirements of training contents and methods.In fact, it is obvious that there is aclose association between training needs and rural teacher’s age, seniority, title andacademic background.On analysis, the possible factors for the above problems might be: the lack oftraining policies and systems; the lack of pointed training contents and methods; theteachers’ own lack of initiation.The following strategies are highlighted in the thesis:first of all, changing concepts, concerning the importance of professional growth ofteachers in rural areas;secondly, improving teachers’ education reformsystem,strengthening the security system of teacher training in rural areas; thirdly,implementing effectively and carrying out multi-channel, multi-level training forms;finally, establishing the notion of professional growth in them, whose teachingcareer should be reasonably schemed.
