Twenty-first Century is the era with the rapid development of information technology,modern information technology is setting off a craze tide with its flexible, safe, convenientadvantages in the field of education, new change is happening in learning environment andmeans, the application of multimedia technology in English teaching also brings newrevolution to them." Standards for National English Course " promulgated by the nationalMinistry of Education in2003pointed out clearly: the teachers should make full use ofmodern educational technology, the development of English teaching resources can broadenthe students’ learning channels and improve their way of learning, improve the effect ofteaching." As our vocational school education developing, multimedia technology in Englishteaching is becoming more and more obvious, more and more vocational schools have putmultimedia technology into teaching practice, the development and utilization multimedia ofteaching resources in vocational school English education and English teachers’ multimediateaching skills have become increasingly prominent. English has become a required course invocational school students, how to develop and use the multimedia teaching resources, designthe rational multimedia teaching activity, promote the students’ ability of English using, reachthe national standard requirements for vocational school students English, have become aproblem to be solved urgently.This article studied investigation the English multimedia teaching resources developmentand utilization of two vocational schools in Yantai city, aimed at understanding status ofEnglish multimedia teaching resources development and utilization, provide the necessaryreference for application of multimedia technology in vocational schools’ English teaching.The goal of investigation is multimedia teaching hardware facilities construction,management and use of teaching courseware, design and use of multimedia teachingresources, development and utilization in the two vocational schools. The main ways ofinvestigation are questionnaire survey, classroom observation and interview. Based on thesurvey and interview results analysis the following problems in a secondary vocationalEnglish multimedia teaching resource development and utilization process can besummarized:1, Vocational school teachers’ consciousness of English multimedia teachingresources development and use is on the low side;2, Vocational Schools’ support and management of English multimedia teaching resources are defective;3, Storage of capacity invocational English teachers’ application of multimedia resources.Therefore, this study proposes suggestions as follows:1, Vocational school should giveprotection for English teachers’ multimedia teaching resources development;2, Strengthenteachers’ consciousness for English multimedia teaching resources development, improveteachers’ development ability of multimedia teaching resources;3, Enhance English teachers’utilization level of.multimedia teaching resources, provide solid language environment tostudents.
