| In the21century, the models of learning English vocabulary have attracted moreand more scholars and professor’ attention as well as the grassroots teachers. And inthe condition of the New Curriculum Standard Reform, for the students’ nature ofactivity and their life-long learning, teaching and learning vocabulary favors theStudent Centered Approach.Vocabulary is the basic element of a language, which plays an important role onlearning a language. In the process of senior high school vocabulary teaching, still theproblem of “duck-stuffing†still exists, endless explanation and taking notes withouthesitation as a result of traditional teaching ideas. This traditional but a little oldapproach is incapable of stirring up students’ interests and the motivation. On theconverse, students need the strategies, effectiveness of learning vocabulary, and keepthe learned vocabulary in the memory. So for vocabulary instruction, the thesiscombines vocabulary instruction with autonomous learning, and apply vocabularyautonomous learning (AVL) model designed based on the questionnaire that the writerconducted in PiXian No.1Middle School.First, the thesis explored the background of the vocabulary learning and definitionand main theoretical bases of the autonomous learning. And the next step was practicalstage, including pre-research vocabulary and post-research test. The data collectedwere analyzed with the Independent Sample Z-test. The result ofpost-researchconcluded that there is significant difference between the experimentalclass and the control class, and the draw the conclusion: AVL can promote the students’learning, finally, the thesis summarized the major findings of the research and somelimitations of the paper. |
