English is a required course of compulsory education phase in the currenteducational system of China. Language learning can’t be separated from the socialenvironment, and is influenced by many external factors. There are many factors affectlearning English in middle schools,among which family factor is the one of the mostimportant factors influence the learning outcome of the Junior students’ Englishlearning. Therefore, scholars both home and abroad carry extensive research on suchrelations. In Chinese context, the research on relationship between family factors andEnglish learning outcome in middle schools is of theoretical and practical significance.This paper, through relevant literature review, analyzes the research finding on therelationship between family factors and English learning outcome both home andabroad, makes clear statements on their different ideas from scholars home and abroadthat family factor influences students learning outcome. Then this paper defines thefamily factor, analyzes the difference between junior high school and primary schoollearning, discusses the junior high school students learning methods and outcome, aswell as the special characteristics of their English learning, draws conclusions on theinfluence of family factors on English learning. Based on that, the author gives aquestionnaires survey of two groups of students in grade7in Ba’nan ExperimentalMiddle School, analyzes the data obtained, which include the relationship betweenlearning outcome and purpose, planning, attitudes, family support, parents educationattainment, parents tutoring, attitude to English learning. Finally, the paper summarizesthe relationship between family factor and Junior High school students learningoutcome, and concludes that: There is no significant relationship between parentseducation attainment and students learning outcome; Parent on the whole pay greatattention to their children English learning; family factor influences learning purpose;parents attitude to English learning influence students attitudes; parent positive attitude to English learning indirectly reinforce students learning, and the author givessuggestion on family education and school education.This paper consists of five parts:The first part is the introduction which introduces the background of the research anddefines it,then explains the theoretical and practical significance of the paper.The second one is the literature review, which includes many materials home andabroad related to the relationship between family factors and the students’ study. Itclarifies the different views of different family factors on the students’ learning from theresearchers abroad and home.The third is the theoretical basis.It defines family factors and analyzes the differencesbetween the middle school students’ study and the primary school pupils’ study,introduces the learning methods and effect for middle school students, relationshipbetween family factors and middle school English learning.At the same time,itpresents the characters and factors of middle school English learning, and junior middleschool students’ English learning characteristics, then put forward the relationshipbetween family factors and the junior middle school students’ English learningoutcome.The fourth part is main body of the paper.Through questionnaires of two classes ofGrade One in Ba’nan Experimental Middle School,the author analyzes the dataobtained, which include the relationship between learning outcome and purpose,planning, attitudes, family support, parents education attainment, parents tutoring,attitude to English learning, and other aspects of the relationship with junior middleschool students English study.The fifth part is the conclusion of this paper with some suggestion.Based on theprevious theory abroad and home and questionnaire practical research,this partconcludes that the family factors influence junior middle school English learning,andoffers some corresponding suggestions to both family education and the schooleducation, shortcomings are also pointed out....
