The Chinese composition writing test is one important part of the National College Entrance Examination. The value orientations of the composition writing test not only affects the students’performance, but affects the composition teaching as well. Since the Reform and Open-up policy of China, the Chinese composition writing test of the National College Entrance Examination is exploring and adjusting all the time, which has accumulated much experiences but still suffered from criticism and questioning now and then. This paper focuses on the study of The Chinese composition writing test of the National College Entrance Examination since1977. According to the Curriculum Reform, the theory of the Chinese education, the subject of examination, the knowledge of the composition writing and the feature of the psychological development of the high school student, the status and existing problems in the Chinese composition writing test of the National College Entrance Examination will be analyzed. Its’influence on the composition writing teaching in both aspects of advantages and disadvantages will be pointed out, for the purpose of presenting some references on the Chinese composition writing test.This thesis altogether consists of five chapters. The first chapter is about the studying motivation, objects, methods, structure and significance. The second chapter is about the external value orientation of The Chinese composition writing test in the National College Entrance Examination:paying attention to and examining the thinking ability, the limitation and transcendation of "conception" first, the change and introspection of writing style. The following chapter summarizes and describes the internal value orientation of the Chinese composition writing test:highlighting the students’subjectivity, paying attention to and introspection of society, transmutation and highlighting the concept of "country", Reflection and introspection of cultural value, question about the world. The forth chapter compares the Chinese composition writing test with two western countries (America and France). The last chapter looks forward to the future of the Chinese composition writing test as follows:integrating and hiding the multivariate social value;opening and limitation under the interactive context; highlighting the students’ subjectivity and evaluation their thinking abilities.This paper mainly focuses on exploring the value orientations of the Chinese composition writing test in the National College Entrance Examination, trying to illustrate the status and the questions itself and presenting some rational references.
