The postgraduate education is an important part of Chinese higher education, taking the responsibility of the training senior specialized talents and developing the modern science and technology. Postgraduate groups are also promoting the construction of a powerful country with human resources of talents. Besides, they are the main force to promote the development of national economic construction. The21st century is the era of IT, so the competition of science and technology is the talents competition, and talent competition deeply relies on the higher education competition. In this sense, the postgraduate education model will become the key to the talents cultivation under the background of the new era. After these years developing, the scale and quality of our country’s postgraduate education has made great progress, but compared to the developed western countries whose postgraduate education started earlier, and we still have a long way to go.Therefore, the paper selected the higher education as a case to study the feature of the Sino-US postgraduate education model. The basic research methods are based on the literature search, induction, comparative research, case study method. In this paper, the literature search is mainly used to analyse the predecessor’s research results so that we will know how to make a detailed comparison.The author do the comparative research, the research objectives including the training objectives, training system, training courses, teaching methods of Sino-US postgraduate training model of higher education in order to identify the differences and characteristics and learn from each other.The paper mainly includes four parts, and the first part is the introduction, the background of the problem, research significance, research methods and so on. The second part, starting from the primary factor of the training mode, the author analysed the differences of the training objectives of the Higher Education postgraduate training model between two countries. The third part focused on the training measures, and training measures consists of three parts which are training contents, training methods, training systems; The training contents center on the curriculum and the course distribution. The training methods mainly include teaching methods, research and training methods; The training systems cover the enrollment system, tutorial system, elimination system. The author made a comprehensive comparison about the important factors of the postgraduate training model of the Sino-US Higher Education, and summed up their respective characteristics. In the comparison process. The author also selected some typical universities from these two countries as case studies to identify their similarities and differences.The fourth part, combination with the current situation of our postgraduate training model, the author put forward some constructive suggestion from the US successful experience.
