Enterprise social work originated in the U.S. in the late19th and early20th century, which asks social workers to use professional theory and methods to help the staff to solve the problems concerning life and mentality so to raise the welfare benefits of the staff and help the enterprises to do the management of employee relationship to reach the win-win situation between staff and enterprises. The concept of enterprise social work was introduced into China at the end of the20th century and developed quickly in southern developed areas. Because of the restrictions on funding and management, there is hardly any intervention in practical level in western areas and the theoretical direction is lacking. For this reason, the author has done the practical activity in an individually-run enterprise in Xi’an for3months. Through the process, the author found that though there are some hindrances to carry out enterprise social work, the intervention is helpful and feasible. The chapter one gives a general overview of enterprise social work, including the basic concept, common intervention means and theoretic background. The main content of chapter two is the instance analysis of enterprise social work. The author came to understand the employees’needs by questionnaire and carried out group activities and then summarized and reflected them. By analyzing the current situation of individually-run enterprises and the intervention to business management and difficulty, the author illustrated the feasibility of intervention to individually-run enterprises in western areas. Social worker can help the managers to handle conflicts of labors, guarantee employee’s basic rights, manage emotion and empower employee. Enterprise social work can not grow rapidly in short time because the concepts of social work have not been accepted, sense of worth between social work and enterprise still exist conflicts, the time performance of social worker is difficult to manage and lack of government’s attention and specialized talented person. So, in the last chapter, the author gives an outlook for social work intervention to individually-run enterprises in western areas. That is though the development of social work intervention still has lots of difficulties, it is positive for enterprise management. Enterprise social work will have a rapid development in near future.
