In2009, Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China issued a document about the preparation of full-time master degree of education. According to that, some relevant universities began to carry out the new form of degree. This kind of degree is different from previous ones:it recruit fresh students rather than experienced teachers who want enter into teaching profession but not majored in education during their undergraduate stage."Applied、compound and high-leveled talents" is the aim. The new system is not very sound especially its courses are being explored. At the same time, courses about postgraduate teacher education in America has a long history, which may give us some benefits.This research is divided into six parts:Part One:Introduction, demonstrates the research background and meaning, the main concepts and literature review. The research contents and methods are also included. Part Two:the introduction of three kinds of pre-service postgraduate teacher education models:the first one is five-year separated model ("4+1") and the second is six-year separated model ("4+2"). The third one is Alternative Teacher Education (simplified as ATE).The history、the current situation and the evaluation are presented in each of the three models.Part Three:the theoretical analysis of courses on postgraduate teacher education in America. The four dimensions are:Course Objectives、Course Structure and Contents、Course Implementation and Course Evaluation.Part four:three case study of postgraduate teacher education. The three typical cases are STEP in Stanford University, DTE in University of California at Berkeley and EED in Humboldt State University. This research respectively describes their basic course situation and summarizes the courses’characteristics of each program.Part Five:summaries of the traits of courses about postgraduate teacher education in America. Postgraduate teacher educations link theory and internship closely, pay a lot attention on practice courses. They strengthen cooperation between university and middle school or primary school and set a series flexible and comprehensive course evaluation system. Those are exactly what we could learn from America’s experience.Part Six:summaries of the whole study as well as the prediction of the trends on teacher education course.
