| College life is an important period of exploring personal career development for students.However, for various reasons, a lot of senior students were still in the state of uncertaintyabout their career development. The purpose of this study investigated the implications ofcareer indecision and its impacts among college graduating students.The study data was analyzed by quantitative and qualitative method. The Career DecisionScales and State Anxiety Inventory were administrated to300college graduating students inone of university in HeiLongjiang. After excluded invalid data,278subjects were included.Basing on the quantitative data,20career indecision students were selected from fourdifferent levels of state anxiety. The semi-structured interview was administrated for them.The results of quantitative data were that the state anxiety scores of college graduatingstudents who were career uncertainty were higher than those of career decided. The scores ofstate anxiety showed no significant differences on gender, and different types of careeruncertainty. According to qualitative data, the impact factors of career indecision weremotivation, interest and confidence, career beliefs, decision-making style, professionalpreparation, career exploration, looking-forward working place, identification of significantothers, and marriage relationship maintenance. The three-factor model of career indecision forcollege graduating students was developed by the method of grounded theory which were thefactors of self, opportunity and relationship.Finally, the results of the study were discussed and the suggestions of college careereducation and counseling as well as future researches were provided. |
