Teaching writing is known as a major part of the language teaching, which is notthe case in the current teaching practice. Due to lack of widening differences in scoreof college entrance essay and deviations of language teachers writing teaching ideasand other factors, the time taken to teach writing accounts for less than20%of thetime to teach reading. As the result, students’ writing ability is poor, contributing tostatus quo of a lack of writing talents in the community. The internal reason islanguage teachers teaching ideas in high school return to the old way of teaching tothe test of the imperial era.The thesis aims to present basic questions of writing teaching from theconstruction of the high school language teaching ideas, from the perspective of thethree great controversy of language teaching:First. Should teaching writing conducted under the guide of Herbart teachingideas, or Dewey pragmatism? Second, should the writing teaching put emphasis onthe study of knowledge or fostering ability? Third, should the writing teaching bewriting-centered or human-centered? Fourth, is writing a curriculum or activitycourse?To satisfy the needs of the academic research, it is assumed that the teaching ofwriting should be carried out under the guidance of Dewey’s pragmatism, and thatwriting teaching should put emphasis on fostering ability and be human-centered andan activity course to guide students to improve writing skills. And then dating fromChinese writing ideas in the history, the author proposed a definition of writingteaching for practice: writing teaching is a student-centered teaching activity in whichthe language teachers guide students to improve writing ability and follow the writingrules.Innovation of this research lies in the application of pedagogical theory towriting teaching research.First, from a perspective of preparation for NMET, graassroot teachers in seniorthree are supposed to hold the idea that the writing teaching must be based onDewey’s pragmatism education as the instruction, aiming at practical purpose. Just asYe Shengtao said:"writing teaching should by no means be aimed at examination but current needs.Second, from record of the writing process of Lin Daiyu’s, a heroine of A Dreamof Red Mansions, the author demonstrates the writing of a "double conversion", andconcludes that teachers should guide students to develop a habit of the record readingsentiment and develop a habit of recording life sentiment, and that precipitation of lifeand poetry ascension are to promote the transformation. At the light of doubletransformation theory, authie gets a beeter pixture of writing materials in the currenthigh school textbook, leading to better writing teaching management and design.Third, from point of view of curriculum theory, the author holds that the writingteaching belongs to activity course, and that situational writing teaching,inquiry-based writing teaching and experience teaching writing are the basic methodsof teaching writing to improve writing skills.The fourth is "learning by doing" is the basic method of writing teaching.Teachers should have a profound understanding of "learning by doing", and form theconcepts of "learning by doing", guide students "learning by doing" in the process ofwriting teaching, which pushes high school writing teaching into healthy and efficientorbit.
