From the perspective of personality theory, this article attempts Li Bai and Du Fu’s poetry value in the Chinese teaching in the middle schools for students. This paper includes four chapters.The first chapter outlines the contemporary conditions of the Chinese ancient poems teaching in the middle school. This chapter provides an overview of the standards of the Chinese course to meet in middle school on teaching of ancient poetry, the situation and some new attempt on classical poetry teaching in middle school, and students’understanding of ancient poems as well.The second chapter discusses the values of Li Bai and Du Fu upon the shaping of the middle school students on personality. It begins with the connotation of personality, and then discusses the relation between personality and education, and focusing on Li Bai and Du Fu’s work the significance of the personality education of the ancient poetry.The third chapter discusses the values of Li Bai and Du Fu’s work upon the shaping of the middle school students on aesthetic tastes. Firstly, this paper explores the dialectical relation of personality and aesthetic taste. Then it discusses the values of Li Bai and Du Fu’s work upon the shaping of the middle school students on aesthetic tastes.The fourth chapter develops some concrete strategies to cultivate personality among the middle school students when they read the poems of Li Bai and Du Fu.
