Design Of S College’s Middle-level Cadre Training Project Based On Competency Model

Colleges and Universities serve as an importance base for cultivating builders and successors of socialist cause, shouldering sacred missions of invigorating China through science and education. Capacity and quality of leading cadres in colleges and universities, therefore, are directly related to target fulfillment of organization management in tertiary schools.The Peter Principle told us that not every chosen manager is sure to be competent for a new management position. Competence training is indispensable. Statistics show that currently, the education that leading cadres of tertiary schools in China have accepted is mostly for academic credentials or professional education. In general, they haven’t received any training on management or skills, which results in a short board of their capacity. It is well-known that training is an important way to improve the quality of the ability of cadres. It can also be an essential approach to capacity building cadres of tertiary schools.Taking S College as an example, the thesis proposes design procedures for a middle-level cadre training project, which is based on competence model, working with project management, conforming to the development strategy of tertiary schools, and aiming at promoting the training of middle-level cadres in colleges and universities pertinently and effectively.The thesis examines the current situation of middle-level cadres of S College and its cadre training management, and finds some problems existing in its cadre training in terms of training ideas, mechanism, and contents as well. S College Middle-level Cadres Competence Model is established through methods of literature review, questionnaires and data analysis. With the Competence Model, the thesis evaluates the current middle-level cadre competency of the college, comes to the short board of its cadre competency, and designs the college’s middle-level cadre training project in accordance with the competence-oriented modern training theory.
