The Study On The Competency Model's Construction And Verification Of College Student Cadres

The aim of this paper is to choose the theory and the research methods of human resource management, management psychology and organizational behavior to study the competency model of college student cadres. It is to provide effective theories, methods and tools for the student cadres training and selection.The research is on the basis of literature review. Firstly, this research interviewed college student cadres who were chosen as subjects by behavioral event interview (BEI). Secondly, the study used the open questionnaire to collect the competence factors of college student cadres. At the last, the study built the competency model of college student cadres preliminarily. According to the model, the researcher compiled the forecast competency self-evaluation questionnaire of college student cadres. Then the study used the exploratory factor analysis for the preliminary results, obtain the competency character project of the college student cadres and compiled the formal competency self-evaluation questionnaire of college student cadres, completed the model validation.The results of the study are as follows:(1)The competency model of college student cadres (CMCSC) consists of 5 features: personal characteristics, communication, interpersonal understanding, team-work and achievement orientation.(2)Due to inspect and verify the CMCSC, the researcher made the self-evaluation questionnaire of college student cadres'competency. It was developed with firm reliability and validity.(3)Compare with Spencer's competency model of management personnel, our competency model of the college student cadres has 2 competencies as the same meaning, these are team-work and achievement orientation. And 2 competencies have analogical meaning, these are personal characteristics and interpersonal understanding. Also there is 1 competence characteristics differently, it is the factor of communication(4)Based on the difference comparison of the competency factors of college student cadres who are on the different demographic characters, it is found that the competence of college student cadres has certain effect on gender, different grades and departments. There are no significant differences in the competence of college student cadres between the only-child and the non-only-child.
