With the development of economic and educational globalization, a special group called little overseas Chinese, who are students who have not attained the age of18, have appeared. They study abroad due to a variety of reasons. At present, Chinese research relating to Chinese students studying abroad mostly focuses on higher education (subject investigated limited to those who take higher education) and newborn international schools (foreign students studying or living in China). However there is little research focusing on international education in secondary schools. In Hunan Province, it is so common now that in public or private schools, international departments are established, international courses are offered and foreign students are enrolled. In the course of implementation, there are some shortcomings as well, such as too many study-abroad programs, uncertain and differentiated students, not continuous and mature courses due to those studying abroad agencies which cooperate to make money. On the basis of this background, taking Changsha Tongshenghu Experimental School for example, the writer will investigate the current situations of international education in this school and try to solve problems in development, aiming to find out some ways of improvement for international education in secondary schools in Hunan, provide the theoretical basis and practical instruction for the development of international education in secondary schools in Hunan and make contribution to the enrichment of related theories and refine them.This project adopts a variety of methods of research. It analyzes the current situations and outstanding issues of international education in secondary schools mainly using literature search. Meanwhile, it tries to find some ways of improvement by comparing the successful experiences of the international programs already offered in public schools in Changsha with those overseas, combined with the actual conditions in Changsha Tongshenghu Experimental School. Moreover, in order to learn about the current status of international education in secondary schools in Hunan, analyze the reasons that restrict its development and find the countermeasures, it applies the interview method to interview some teachers in the schools which have already established the international education programs.
