High school education plays a very important role in education of students, especially in mathematics education. It is very important to set up and implement the high school mathematic electives. Students can choose course to study as their wishes and interests. In this way, the students’enthusiasm was totally inspired and their practical skills have improved increasingly. What’s more, choose course according to students’ interests and hobbies is the need of physical and mental development for students, and also leave space for teachers.This paper studies the current situation of high school mathematic electives at home and abroad seriously, analysis the current situation, purpose and significance of the implementation of high school mathematic electives, then points out the problems and reasons of the implementation of high school mathematic electives. The main problems of the implementation of high school mathematics electives are external interference, the less elective contents, dispute on the creation of high school mathematics electives among teachers, students’own interests and the pressure of college entrance examination.
