In the beginning of this century, the Ministry of Education promulgated Senior High School Mathematics Curriculum Standard (experiment). The most important highlight of Curriculum Standard is the options in class. High school mathematic electives base on common ground which every student can reach, and provide a wide variety of curriculum content so as to meet the diverse needs of students to the extent. Nowadays, it is the important times of reform and opening up in our country. The country is undergoing comprehensive and profound reforms, regardless of the economic structure or social structure or the development of education. High school education plays a very important role in education of students, especially in mathematics education. It is very important to set up and implement the high school mathematic electives. Students can choose course to study as their wishes and interests. In this way, the students’enthusiasm was totally inspired and their practical skills have improved increasingly. What’s more, choose course according to students’ interests and hobbies is the need of physical and mental development for students, and also leave space for teachers.This paper studies the current situation of high school mathematic electives at home and abroad seriously, analysis the current situation, purpose and significance of the implementation of high school mathematic electives, then points out the problems and reasons of the implementation of high school mathematic electives. The main problems of the implementation of high school mathematics electives are external interference, the less elective contents, dispute on the creation of high school mathematics electives among teachers, students’own interests and the pressure of college entrance examination. To solve these problems, the whole country should pay much attention to investment in education school conditions, the construction of teaching materials and teacher training, elective modes, strengthen communication and coordination among society, students and parents and so on.Specifically, the main research of the approach is:the first chapter is theoretical analysis section, in-depth study of the background of the development of the high school math electives, the implementation of the characteristics of purpose and meaning, as well as high school math electives; The second chapter is the theory analysis section, a deep research on the high school mathematics elective course development background, implementation purpose and significance as well as the characteristics of the high school mathematics elective courses; The third chapter mainly adopts questionnaire survey, interviews and other methods to our country high school mathematics elective course implementation present situation to carry on the investigation and analysis;The fourth chapter analyzes exsiting problems and reasons which are in the implementation process of high school mathematics elective course in our country;The fifth chapter in the comprehensive front chapters analysis and research in the foundation, combined with the actual status of the secondary education, and put forward the corresponding countermeasures and suggestions.
