| How to allocate the important resources of university graduates to the most needed place in society through market mechanism has become an issue of great significance and urgency. Scholars have discussed it from various perspectives on the basis of employment of graduates. Some analyzed the relationship between college expansion plan and graduate employment, while some tried to seek for solutions to this social problem. However, these studies have to some extent intensified people’s awareness of this employment issue, yet any case study aiming at one specific university is still in rarity, especially on whether any difference exists among different universities and detailed further analysis. As it’s known to all, a thorough discussion into one particular university will not only provide research resources to other scholars interested in this specific issue, but also serve as a model resolution to other Chinese universities. For this purpose, the author chose from several possible options and was finally dedicated to this thesis.Bearing the purpose of employment research on university graduates in Northeastern University (NEU), the author adopted research methodology such as case study, statistics survey and literature review, defined core concepts of "employment rate","rate of admission into higher schools" and "non-employment rate", fixed the theories and empirical data, made a thorough inquiry into the features of current employment situation and existing problems in NEU and gave pragmatic suggestions.The main body of this thesis is composed of three parts:statistical findings, perspective of employment-related issue and resolutions and suggestions. First, the author developed a comparative analysis of NEU employment situation both horizontally and vertically. Later, the thesis posed its major problems, and from two aspects discussed those shaping factors in detail. Finally, concrete suggestions for improvement are further given, including optimizing major and discipline settings, improving university career guide service and rationally planning admission scale.This thesis has enriched the methods and perspectives of educational resolution through a case study of NEU graduate employment, and provided a possible solution for improvement of university employment mechanism reform and policy making. There are two main features of this thesis:1) the adoption of case study and statistics survey is rather creative;2) the compiling and analyzing of first-hand materials of NEU employment situation and its final finding make a breakthrough to the current paradigm of phenomenon-explanation-problems. |
