Along with the arrival of the era of Web2.0and the rapid development of social software,the network environment has become an important learning environment for college students inChina. The collaborative learning model displays more advantages. The cooperative learningbased on the network has become a very important mode of the network teaching, as a result ofwhich many web-based collaborative learning platforms have appeared. Google services, alsocalled Google tools or Google products that are combined with Web2.0technology and concept,make learners become not only the web users and consumers, but the builders and creators.Simultaneously, it helps the teachers to serve not only as administrators and instructors, but asfacilitators and participants. With its advantages of collaboration, openness, strong technicalsupport, low technology threshold, Google services have built a broad learning platform forlearners’ collaborative and collective wisdom. By discussing Google services’ technicaladvantages and college students’ innovative thinking in the information age, this paper proposesa new college students’ collaborative learning model with the aim of promoting this model in themulti-disciplinary surroundings.This paper is based on several theories relating to the Web-based Collaborative LearningModel, including the socio-constructivism, the group dynamism, the humanism learning theory,and the socio-cultural theory. It comprehensively analyzes the theory on college students’Web-based Collaborative Learning Model, summarizes the connotation and characteristics of themodel, and describes its technical support and basic process. It also examines Google’s servicesbased on a questionnaire about the present situation of college students’ application of Googleservice. The paper analyzes the feasibility of the Google services as Web-based CollaborativeLearning platform with the principles of encouragement, subjectivity, and scientific conduction.The paper sketches out several specific cases about the model in order to illustrate the possibilityand feasibility of the model in the college setting, and the cases have been explored based oncertain questionnaires among college students on campus.This paper puts forward a way of using Google services as college students’ Web-basedCollaborative Learning platform. In the long run, it can promote the theoretical and practicalreforms of college students’ web-based collaborative learning ways. It also can contribute to thedevelopment of the digitalization process of Chinese education and certain reforms in this field.
