Middle School thought moral character class is a comprehensive course based on the life of middle school students. It’s aim is to guide and help the middle school students to develope the ideology and morality. Compared with other courses, school thought moral character class is prominent in its function of moral education. According to the special nature and function of middle school thought moral character class, with the implementation of new curriculum reform and under the guide of new teaching concept, we are asked to explore new effective(in practice) teaching methods that meets with the requirement of the new course. As one of the most effective teaching methods, activity teaching method is agreed and accepted by most middle school thought moral character class teachers.Activity teaching is a bright spot of the new curriculum reform. It aims at improving the quality of teaching and developing the students’ability of understanding and analyzing social life with the knowledge, and realizing moral practice. By strengthening the sense of contemparaneity, weakening discipline system and reducing the theory difficulty, activity teaching in school thought moral character class combines the ideological theory teaching with activity. It means that activity teaching makes teaching activities full of content and teaching content resort to activities.However, many problems emerge when activity teaching is being performed. Such as:the activity resource is shortage and Improper usage, activity content is too old and lack of creativity, the form is only and lack of diversity, the course is blind design and lack of relevance and acceptability, activity teaching is stressing on classroom simulation activity and ignoring after-school practice. This author looks into the causes of theses problems. Such as:the teacher is lack of full moral information, the middle school student is too young to accept the moral course, the environment is not plentiful enough.Finally, to solve the existing problems and effectively carry out activity teaching, activity teaching optimization principles should include principle of relevance to life, principle of Participation principle of patent, principle of creation, and principle of practicalness. Basing on these principle, activity teaching optimization strategies in this paper include activity teaching resource optimization strategy, Activity teaching process optimization strategy and activity results show strategy.
