In1990s, with China’s penetrating into market economy reform and its conversion ofstate function, the reform of higher education administration system has made great progress.Guided by an “eight-word” policy, namely “co-construction, adjustment, co-operation,merger”, higher education administration system reform was carried out mainly by adjustingand merging. Since some universities were divided into multiple school districts which led toa new form of higher education in China, student education management in universities withmultiple school districts has become a brand new research project. During the highereducation reform in1992, universities expanded campuses and merged with other colleges,bringing “one university with multiple school districts”. At the same time, new cases andissues arose.“One university with multiple school districts” contributes to developing newteaching area, optimizing discipline structure, integrating different fields of study, creatingnew growth point of disciplines, compensating for the deficiency of education resources, andenhancing universities’ competitiveness. Although universities benefit a lot from theirmultiple school districts, due to the differences between different management systems,regional distinguishing features and educational conditions, people’s expectation of runninguniversities efficiently contradicts with its actual effect. And “one university with multipleschool districts” also triggers lots of issues, especially the new problems and challenges therunners face in student education management in different school districts.Working on student education management in a university with multiple school districts,I started from my working experiences and analyzed the current situation of student educationmanagement in South China University of Technology. I also handed on its existing issues inSCUT, compared cases of “one university with multiple school districts” in differentuniversities at home and abroad. And I elaborated the corresponding solutions to studenteducation management in “one university with multiple school districts”. Firstly, thisresearch explains the relative concepts, features and models of student education managementin “one university with multiple school districts” by analyzing references. Secondly, afteranalyzing the cases of this kind of management in developed countries and comparing themwith those of universities in China, and summarization based on the investigation about thecurrent situation of student education management in “one university with multiple schooldistricts” in SCUT, I summarized some experience from them and drew some new ideas onthis subject. Finally, based on the current situation of SCUT, I put forward some updated ideas and suggestion of perfecting student education management in multiple school districtsin SCUT. Aiming at the fulfillment of educational objective in SCUT, namely cultivating“three-innovation” talents, I came to terms with new solutions and approaches to studenteducation management in “one university with multiple school districts”.
