As the advent of the information age, computers as well as mobile devices are regarded asimportant tools for communication. And traditional learning changes with the trend. To catch upwith the information tendency, the internet and computers are involved in traditional learningprocess in pursuing of better learning effects and higher learning efficiency. At the same time, lifelong learning is being treated as a productive way to keep pace with the times in whichincreasing learners’ ability to learn by themselves is essential, namely the ability to conductautonomous learning is critical. To comply with these two trends, Web-based autonomous learningis popular in the information age.Web-based autonomous learning refers to the learning process during which learners make useof the on-line learning service system to study. When they are conducting web-based autonomouslearning, they depend on the internet to achieve their learning goals with learning purposes andlearning plans made by themselves. In this research, postgraduates are chosen as the study objectives because web-basedautonomous learning is more beneficial and suitable to them than to the undergraduate students andthey are mature enough both psychologically and technically to conduct Web-based autonomouslearning. The research is aimed at finding out the current situation of web-based autonomous learning ofthe postgraduates and the factors that influencing their learning effects. First of all, autonomouslearning and the web-based autonomous learning are discussed thoroughly in the research. Then theresearcher comes up with a scale, which was based on plenty of previous studies and theories, tofind out which factors are effective to the effects of the web-based autonomous learning of thepostgraduates. Through thorough analysis, it is found that there are five factors influencing theeffects of the web-based autonomous learning of the postgraduates, including three innerfactors-learning motives, self-efficacy and goal-setting and two outer factors-teachers and on-lineenvironment. And all these factors are positively related to the effects of the web-based autonomouslearning of the postgraduates. |
