The colleges have begun to expand enrollment by a large margin since the education systemhas been reformed in1999, and the art major owns the biggest amplitude among all the majors.After the reform of enrollment in colleges and universities, the enrollment of art major hasincreased so fast again that it has become decuple of the previous number, whereas, the commonliberal art and science enrollment has increased by less than four times. The rapid developmentof enrollment brings hope to high school students who are under great competitive pressures andheavy loads of enrollment rate. Lots of students choose to move from the common classes to theart specialty classes. The increase of art students’ enrollment results in another increase in artexaminees. Although the tuition fee of art is higher than other majors, its higher rate ofenrollment makes the tuition fee no longer the most regardful issue for the students’ parentsunder the improved living standards. At the same time, with the growing grim situation ofemployment, college students of most of the majors are facing difficulties of finding jobs,however, as a lifelong skill, art has a quite extensive application and employing fields, uponwhich people may live for a whole life. Thus, students of art have increased awfully in highschools. And the art make-up classes have emerged due to the above all reasons.At present, attitudes of art make-up classes can be divided into two types roughly: one ispositive attitude, which thinks the development and prosperity of art make-up classes isgratifying. We should see art make-up classes’ advantages to art education, and put thisphenomenon under the consideration of quality-oriented education. Art make-up classes, as acomplement to basic art education, can improve examinee’s technical ability in a short time. Theother is negative attitude, which thinks make-up classes based on economic benefit, against thepremise of quality-oriented education. And they think art make-up class is in a ArrestedDevelopment suspect, decreasing the quality of art students greatly.Any coin has two sides, and something exists for its own reason. Art make-up class is a goodexample of that. The media of public opinion on Art make-up classes are negative mostly, butArt make-up classes cannot exist, much less its quickly and strongly development without anypositive meaning. So we should both see the positive and negative aspects on the development ofart make-up classes. By studying the exam education’s present situation and erroneous zone, toexplore the problem of the primary and secondary school basic art education、the collegeentrance examination professional add try proposition and comprehensive university fine artsdevelopment direction at a deeper level. in order to balance the interests of all parties from realistic predicament, make sure fine arts and humanities quality education obtain benigndevelopment, and build up confidence for seeking a more reasonable reform path for it.This article adopts the method combined with the overall analysis and individual case survey,which researches and analyzes the art make-up class phenomenon and the whole art educationalsystem. After the investigation, data collection and later analysis of this research, it reveals thatthe emergence of art make-up class is not only the result of examination-oriented educationwhich is reflected in art education, but also the make-up of the existing high school art education.Art make-up class is the special product of China’s market economy development where theclass reveals the mutual problems faced by the art and education.
