The new curriculum is the Ministry of Education started a new round of basiceducation course reform in1999. The purpose is to make the education to adapt to thesocial development and the requirements of quality education. Two years later, theMinistry of Education issued The Basic Education Curriculum Reform Outline, whichprovisions the goal and contacts of the basic education curriculum reform. Now,education of primary and secondary schools including the music course are all underthe new curriculum. The Music Course Standard of The Compulsory Education isadhering to the concept of the new curriculum reform, and gives the music coursenew meanings.“Expanding the national music and understanding the musical culture diversity”is one of the concepts of The Music Course Standard of The Compulsory Education.We could see the music education have paid more and more attention to inherit and expand the national music. Primary and secondary school students are on their basicstage of life and at their golden age. The formation of their values and outlook on lifeat this time will affect their whole life. The national music education should start froman early age. Teachers should let them listen to and learn national music, find thebeauty of it, and develop their ability to appreciate it. By studying and exploring thenational spirit of music, developing the patriotic emotion, they must assume theresponsibility of inheriting and expanding the national music in the future. In recentyears, with the intercultural communication becoming more and more frequently, thewestern musical culture and many good music teaching methods are introduced intoChina. Although it helps promote China’s music education, also has impacts on thedevelopment of national music. For example, in China, many excellent musicians putthe national music and western music on the equal position..When they playing andsinging the music,they Combining the advanced western technology and theperformance form. They folk our national music to the world stage.In music education,They introduce and draw lessons from the foreign excellent music teaching method,Greatly promoted the development of national music education in primary andsecondary schools. Students’ music level are more and more high. But I found that alot of primary and secondary school students are not interested and couldn’t understand the national music correctly. Let alone they could study and inherit thenational music. It is a problem of great importance.No investigation, no right to speak. I investigated the primary and secondaryschools’ national music education’s current situation in Shenyang last year, fromwhich I have known more about the situation. In the process of surveying andinvestigating, I have found some valuable experience and some drawbacks. Finally, Iput forward four suggestions about teaching environment, teaching content, teachingmode and the construction of teaching staff. I hope that it can promote thedevelopment of primary and secondary school national music education.
