Teachers’ professional identity (TPI) is a kind of comprehensive evaluation of value and significance by themselves, based on the assessment of their working atmosphere. TPI is the teacher’s internal impetus in improving their self-professional development, as well as the dynamic consciousness process in obtaining sense of worth and happiness within their careers. Establishing a piece of teaching body with high TPI level is essential for the healthy and sustainable development of a school, especially the private school of independent-management and self-financing.Referring to the previous results on TPI and the current situation of private school teachers, private primary school teachers in Pudong New Area (PSTPNA) were selected and investigated in the study. Firstly, their basic information was fully collected, including the Gender, Age, Education Age, Education Age within their current school. Professional Title, Education Background, Wage Level. Then, they were investigated from six aspects concerned with TPI, such as occupational value, job satisfaction level, teacher’s culture understanding, recognition degree on their current school, self-assessment and turnover Intention. Based on the investigation, the current TPI situation in PSTPNA was demonstrated. The major causes for lacking TPI in PSTPNA were also analyzed from policy factors, management perspective and leadership mechanisms, social concept, parents’ approval and cultural factors of the private primary school. Besides, some possible strategies concerning improving the TPI level were presented in order to solve the problem and make the development of private primary school in PSTPNA to be more healthy and better.
