Main purpose of this study is to understand the status of academic stress of graduates of grade three, and to understand the influence of Directed Imagery and Music alleviating the stress of students who are master’s third grade students of East China Normal University through the experiment, and explore the effective method of relieving stress through music, to provide guidance to the research on music therapy.The main research methods involved in this study are:literature analysis, experimental method, questionnaire method.The study selected16graduates of grade three from East China Normal University as subjects to experiment through stratified random sampling. They have to take the test for twice,40minutes each time, two weeks another. Subjects choose one from the three music scenes of "the Stream","the Mountain"," the Prairie", the subjects’brain electrical signal was collected through the electroencephalograph each experiment. Subjects were asked to fill in the "Basic Information Form","Graduate Academic Pressure Questionnaire","State Anxiety Scale S-AI","additional survey questions"Research significance:the college students have a certain stress more or less, especially for the graduate students of grade three, Graduation thesis and employment increase the psychological pressure of the group. How to choose an effective and simple operation of decompression method deserves our deep thinking. In recent years, the music professional researchers with both physiological and psychological methods are few in the domestic empirical study. in order to fill the gap in China, author intends to attempt to do it. Hope the study could make a contribution on the study of relieving stress of graduate students through music.Research results:Directed Imagery and Music measured by physiological and psychological methods had effects on reducing stress in this experiment. Independent sample t-test resulted in no significant differences between gender and majors for State Anxiety Inventory, but resulted in significant differences between gender and majors for EEG.The effect of females were better than males, and the effect of liberal arts students were better than Sciences students.
