Teaching ability is the sum of the relevant knowledge and skills that teacherpossesses to finish the teaching activities smoothly. Physical education refers to themost basic ability that the physical education teachers owns, including the ability tomake all kinds of teaching plans; Flexibly using teaching methods according to thecharacteristics of students and the real space equipments; studying the syllabus andteaching abilities; Organizing students to learn and practice,the ability to groupactivities. Having the ability to find problem, analysis problem, solve problem andevaluate the teaching work.In the process of teaching practice. Teachers master the teaching methodssystematically, comprehensively and pay them to practice.In the process, the teachersteach students the basic knowledge, techniques, methods and skills of basketballthrough various means and methods and let them obtain collective consciousness andidea. Special sports education professional students’ ability of teaching practice isvery important. It is the necessary ability of students to society. Especially theformation of the concept of teaching and training that build in the teaching practice, itwill have the effect of getting twice the result with half the effort to their jobs.Through the investigation to the basketball special student’s in grade2011ofXi’an institute of physical education, using the literature material law, questionnairesurvey method, teaching experiment, mathematical statistics, logic analysis toinvestigate and analysis the present situation of students’ teaching practice ability.The result shows that in the aspect of teaching design ability, the students arebetween the passing line and the minimum. From the result of the thirty students bythe test, we can see that the total level of teaching practice ability of physicaleducation professional basketball students are good, but some individual capacitiesneed to be strengthened. In view of the main problems that appear in the teachingpractice, we put forward the corresponding countermeasures and suggestions in orderto improve the teaching practice abilities of students and lay a good foundation forthem to adapt to social demands in the future, in addition, putting forward somereasonable suggestions and opinions for the special course teaching in our college.
