Quality is the lifeline of higher education, and it is also the eternal theme of the development of higher education. How to improve universities’teaching quality is a problem for the development of higher education all the time. In recent years, serious contradiction between the quantity and quality of talent training appears during the popularization of higher education, the quality of higher education is worrying. In the1990s, Academic Concept of Teachers’ Teaching was put forward by Ernest boyer who is the former chairman of the Carnegie council for the promotion of teaching. This concept was put forward under the background that higher education in the United States attached too much importance to researching but neglected the teaching work and the quality of teaching declined, so there would be practical applicableness in this case for higher education in our country. The present of Boyer’s teaching concept offers a new theoretical perspective and wide academic norm. The core of teaching concept aims at enlarging the academic connotation and denotation, putting teaching into the category of academic and making teaching in university into an academic activity. Regeneration on academic concept of teaching can urge university teachers to get deep understanding of teaching and academic activity, to enhance academic research of teaching, thus to improve teaching level of teachers in university, to improve the teaching quality of higher education.This paper carried thorough research on three pairs of related concept on the basis of Boyer’s explaination of teaching academy and its connotation. These concepts are teaching in university and academic, teaching academic and professional academic as well as teaching academic and academic teach. And then it presented the necessity of the regeneration of university teachers’ teaching academic concept. The author conducted a survey on the current situation of teaching academic concept of teachers in some universities in Chongqing by using questionnaire and interviewing method. During the research, it’s found that university teachers in our country still have several problems like having traditional teaching concept of ’teaching but not academic’, having traditional academic concept of’academic is research’,ignoring the importance of teaching research and having old teaching academic concept. Through the analysis of these problems, it’s found that the deviation of university teachers’ main value orientation is the primary internal reason to influence teachers’teaching academic concept, at the same time, imperfect assessing system for university teachers and the missing of teaching academic environment in university campus are external reasons to influence the regeneration of teachers’ teaching academic concept. Therefore, the author puts forward a useful way according to the Boyer’s teaching academic theory and Thomas Kuhn’s paradigm theory:change university teachers’ self-awareness, insist the consistent between subject academic and teaching academic; establish and perfect the assessing system of teachers, guarantee the regeneration of teachers’ teaching academic concept; build good cultural environment in campus, promote the regeneration of teachers’ teaching academic concept.
