The academic development of teachers in colleges and universities is the core content of university teacher development, and it is also the key to improve the quality of higher education. Since the Boyer has put forward the idea of scholarship of teaching on the Reflection of Academy----the Emphasis of the Professor’s Job,and people from all the countries of the world response positively and began a heated discussion on this issue. The development of scholarship of teaching is still on the exploratory stage in China. Constructing reasonable scholarship of teaching system is the important way to solve the problems in China,including valuing scientific research but scorning teaching, utilitarianism of teacher management and evaluation,academic anomie and so on. And it is very meaningful and practicable.This paper, based on the Synergy concept, analyzes the problems arisen in the teacher management and evaluation system in colleges and universities of China.The author also came up with the idea of the construction of university teachers’ academic development theoretically, in order to provide reform thought for the construction of university teachers’ academic development.Particularly,this paper is divided into five parts:Part 1, introduction. This part gives a reference to the background,aim,and contents of the research, and makes a introduction of the problem to be solved,literature review, research significance, research thought,and research method.Part 2, the theories about the development of the university teachers’ academicresearch. Firstly, the attitude, theories, process, structure theory, the coreconcepts,and their relationships have been defined and analyzed in this research,including synergy, teacher development and teacher professional development,teaching development, academic development. Secondly, the research perspective ofthis research is analyzed, and the scope of the research is limited. Finally, theresearch framework is illustrated, and the author constructs theanalytical frameworkof this study.Part 3, college teachers’ academic development and present situation analysis in China--- taking S University as an example. In this section, first of all, the author designs the questionnaire from three dimensions,which are the concept, content and mechanism of the development of teachers’ academic development. And the present situation the teachers’ academic development of S University is surveyed empiricaly through the implementation of investigation, data and statistics and analysis.Secondly, based on the survey of S university and the existing literature, this paper analyzes the existent problems and causes based on the investigation and the available documents.Part 4, the idea of teachers’ academic development and experience from foreign countries for reference. Firstly, the author makes a research about the concept of the higher educational academic development. Secondly, the author suggests that it is wise to learn the beneficial lessons from other countries for the schools in China.Part 5, the necessary orientation and system construction of the university teachers’ academic development in China. This part makes a detailed exposition on the concepts, contents, mechanisms of the university teachers’ academic development in China. The author suggests that the relevant departments should set up the comprehensive academic view and strengthen the cooperative consciousness in thoery; clarify the connotation of teachers’ academic development, make clear to the relationship between scientific research and academic teaching on the content; establish and improve the science and education integration mechanism, and academic evaluation system and academic guarantee mechanism on the operation mechanism.
