Biology is an experiment-based natural science which studies lifephenomenon and the law of life. Biology experiments play an important rolein cultivating students’ interest in learning biology, improving students’innovation ability and scientific literacy, etc, especially in high school.This article mainly investigates the teaching status quo of biologicalexperiment in high school of Hailar district, Hulunbeir city by the method ofquestionnaire. The survey shows that laboratory, which is equipped withfull-time laboratory technician is0%, the number of the leader who attachimportance to the funding is just20.8%and the number of school that canincorporate experiment teaching with work evaluation is0%. Only4.2%ofthe teachers often do preparatory experiment and12.5%of the teachers neverencourage students to improve the experimental apparatus and steps.Although more than80%of the students like biological experiment, only32.1%can often preview the text before class, and only18.4%can treat theabnormal phenomenon seriously during the biological experiment. The groupof3people and less3people take up0%in the experimental class. Only25.7%of the students often have the chance to operate on the experimentalclass and only24.3%students can be guided by teachers. What’s more, thereare significant differences in laboratory construction, the attitude of the schoolleaders, students’ experimental ability and the implementation of theexperiment among the key high school in autonomous region and the key andordinary high school in the city. In a word, the main problems are: the poorcondition and low status of biological experimental teaching, theunreasonable teaching arragement, the low level of teacher’s professionalability and the lack of variety of evaluation system, etc. The Hulunbeir City which is located in the northeast of Inner Mongoliaautonomous region in China belongs to remote areas. Compared with thedeveloped cities, the teaching condition and quality is insufficient here.According to the status quo of biological experimental teaching, this articleput forward some suggestions for improvement: First, to strengthen theexperimental teaching resources development. Second, to shift attitudetowards experimental teaching. Third, to improve teachers’ comprehensivequality. Fourth, to arrange classes reasonably. Fifth, to improve theexperimental evaluation system.
