The economic globalization makes the international trade competition gradually increasing. As an important node of the international trade, the port is facing enormous challenges. In recent years, many of the largest ports in the world are succession planning to establish port alliance, or the ports cluster, to integrate the resource to get market advantages. Thus, the ports’Co-competition relationship league has become the inevitable trend of the ports’development. Ports in China are developing in an extremely high speed, while under this cover they are generally lack of cooperation, which leads to the problem of repeated construction, and inefficient competition and so on. This thesis aims to solve this problem, and helps the ports group to plan the structure of ports’benign Co-competition relationship, which must be positioning clear, distinct and rational division of labor. The Co-competition between internal port relations of the ports group is analysised based on Social Network Analysis in this thesis. The network modeling, network analysis, and network dynamic evolution method has been make use of. Further, a method of building, analyzing and dynamic evolution simulating of ports Co-competition relationship is raised. In the last section, an example of Pearl River Delta ports group is given for verification and sitimulation. This thesis firstly introduces related research and specific measures of ports to coordination the Co-competition relationship of ports, and expounds the core theory of whole nets in SNA methodology, meanwhile, the network static analysis, network dynamic and network clustering related methods and techniques are introduced. Based on the comparison among SNA and graph theory and the complex network theory, the advantages of using SNA are expounded. Last but not least the technology and tools needed in methodology analysis and simulation are listed. Then, based on the methodology of research idea in SNA, the thesis proposes the ports group internal Co-competition relationship network analysis model. First, we define the Co-competition relationship between ports, and break them into two elements, inchluding port-hinterland Co-competition, and the port-goods Co-competition. Then we establish the level division of ports using Network Hierarchy Clustering method. Further, Using improved algorithm of grey correlation degree, and location quotient algorithm to quantify two main Co-competition factors of hinterland, goods supply. Then the port competition relation coefficient is formed. Finally, we establish ports Co-competition community matrix and graph, so the factors are embedded into the network structure. Then this thesis analysis the static characteristics of the network, such as network density, Centralization and Betweenness etc, so we can get the structural feature of the ports Co-competition network. In the last section, this thesis takes the China’s Pearl River Delta ports group as an case study, and verifies the validity of the port group internal Co-competition relationship network analysis model. Based on the analysis results, several advices are proposed to optimize the structure of Pearl River Delta ports group Co-competition relationship. This thesis designs and implements a stimulation system of the dynamic evolution of the ports Co-competition relationship network, the consistency check conforms it’s similarity with the actual situation in the Pearl River Delta ports group.
