Research On Strategic Development Of Guangzhou Port Logistics

With speedy development of economic globalization, logistics industry has been reflected as an important indicator of a country’s economic development level and given more and more attention and concern around the world. As a hub of land and sea transportation, port is not only the connection point of international trade, commodities stocks storage and distribution center, but also becoming an important component of the world economy and trade. Modern port logistics has become an important subject facing the development of the port.In this paper, the main study was focus on how to develop Guangzhou port logistics. Based on combing with the whole trend of world’s port logistics development and the concrete condition in China, the problems and competitions that Guangzhou port logistics facing were analyzed systematically, and the remedial strategy and countermeasures were proposed to develop port logistics ultimately.Firstly, guided by the port logistics theories, the relevant research achievement of the typical port logistics development from home and abroad was analyzed. Then the modern condition and existed problems in the development of our country’s port logistics were pointed out.Secondly, according to the relevant theories and the fundamental situation of Guangzhou port and the internal and external condition, an objectively and concrete analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of Guangzhou port, as well as the opportunities and challenges, were made by use of the SWOT model. According to the analysis, the S.O., W.O., S.T., W.T. portfolio strategies were created.As last, based on the analysis result of SWOT development strategies, the strategies and suggestions on how to develop modern Guangzhou port logistics were proposed thoroughly, for example, make up the plan, strengthen the construction of fundamental structure and dry port, fully implemented the storage and distribution condition, constructed the International Shipping Center, promoted the high-end service industrial, strengthen the cooperation with other ports. It posed a significant meaning on the sustainable development of Guangzhou port.
