Strategic Study On What’s The Role Of The Government In Promoting Logistics Development Of Guangzhou Port

The advent of the era of globalization, making all kinds of resources to accelerate the flow distribution across the globe. Ports as a variety of transportation modes and modern rallying point for logistics chain hub in connecting the inland and offshore logistics, international and domestic markets radiation plays an important role, and ports are valuable for the development of China’s economy tribute society. Relying on the port, the port logistics born as an emerging industry and it is becoming prosperous.More and more coastal cities gradually pay attention on port logistics industry. The ranks of investors are expanding day by day.Now, many large shippers, shipping magnate and international port operators have started to invest in infrastructure of major ports at home and abroad.They want to lead logistics chain by this way. To meet the challenge, the ports gradually formed alliance, and begin to conform resources in a wider range. Single port will hard to survive in this competitionGuangzhou Port is a shipping hub throughout the Pan-PRD region and southern China.Improving the port logistics industry in Guangzhou, and reducing logistics costs are really important for the regional economy.Guangdong Province and Guangzhou City, always attaches importance to the development of port logistics industry in recent years, and also issued a series of policies that achieved good results, to support these industries.This paper aims to study the government’s public policy system that promotes Guangzhou Port Logistics industries in the complexity of the current situation. And make some suggestions for the existing port logistics development strategy in Guangzhou.In this paper, SWOT analysis is used, to find out the Guangzhou port’s advantages,weaknesses, opportunities and challenges.Combined with successful experience in major domestic and foreign ports,and the new public management, public governance and public policy theory, the port logistics research results at home and abroad in recent years, to find out the shortage of Guangzhou port logistics strategy,which is imposed by the government.This paper agrees that the current port logistics industry in Guangzhou has a great development, which is supported by the local government, and achieved remarkable results, but still slightly behind compared with its competitors. The Government should introduce appropriate public policy support in terms of infrastructure and operations to ensure the achievement of the strategic objectives.
