Xiamen Port Logistics Development Analysis

Nowadays, port's competition is not the one between point and point, but the one of the entire system of logistics and the supply chain. As the hub of the integrated transport network, the port gradually develops from the transit between land and sea into an integrated logistics center, which promotes the economic development and serves the international trade. Xiamen port aims to develop into the hub port of Southeast coastal areas, the development of which will be a great hindrance to its changing into the container hub port. What's more, it will also become the impediment to the development of Xiamen into an economic center of the Channel West Bank Economic Zone. Based on present situation, this paper points out the necessity of the development of Xiamen port logistics. Using SWOT model, the author multianalyzes and appraises the advantages and disadvantages, opportunities and challenges of the development of Xiamen port. The thesis points out both opportunities and challenges exist in the development of Xiamen port logistics. The author makes qualitative research into the market environment of the development of logistics industry in Xiamen. According to the research, the author explore the strategies and the methods of the development of Xiamen port logistics as follows: the establishment of a regional logistics collaboration positive zone, and expanding economic hinterland; Strengthening cooperation with neighboring ports to get a regional overall superiority; accelerating the change from low value-added to high value-added business operations and greatly promoting the economy of the port; integrating the function of port ,cargo and ships; strengthening the construction of information platform of the internet technology in order to make the port change from "traditional port" to "intelligent port". The author hopes the thesis can give some reference to the development of Xiamen port logistics.
