With the integration of China and the world economy, China at present is not only theleading exporter of raw materials and manufactured goods, but have become the mainparticipants in the global economy, the economic cooperation with the countries all overthe world is getting more and more. Since the law of Chinese and foreign enterprise jointventure issued in1979, the legal status of Sino-foreign joint venture have been identified,and began to grow, so far has been developing for more than30years. During this time,as a kind of important foreign investment forms, the Sino-foreign joint venture, owing tothe powerful combination of both sides in experience, technology, capital, human, andother aspects, the cooperation brings expectations and confidence that the joint venture cancreate maximize profits. But the fact is that there are quite a large proportion of theSino-foreign joint venture is not good in the business situation and even get into theembarrassing position of failure. What covers under the superficial phenomenon of theSino-foreign joint venture’s strong alliance is the conflict and clash of different countries&national culture, different culture enterprises, and different management mode.Sino-foreign joint venture need to learn to adapt to multiple cultural environment in thebusiness process, its business and management is also face a high risk and complexityenvironment. But a lot of the enterprise ignored the important influence of the impact fromthe cultural differences between both sides of enterprise to the business development, theattention paid on the cultural conflict management is limited, and at the same time, alsolack of cultural conflict management skills.This paper has summarized the theory of culture and cross-cultural which was putforward by Chinese and foreign scholars, and systematically analyzed the culturaldifferences, cultural conflict and the reasons for them which are common in themanagement of Sino-foreign joint venture in both theory and the case aspects. Then makespecific suggestions to the cultural conflict management of Sino-foreign joint venture onthe basis of theoretical analysis. After that, specifically verified how important cultureconflict management is in the management process of joint venture enterprise throughcomparative analysis of both failure case and successful cases in Sino-foreign joint venturemanagement, and also offers the reference.
