Climate change is one of the world’s top ten environmental problems. Nowadays,China faces a big challenge for large amount of carbon emission. However, in contrary to“low-carbon economy”, urban traffic system arouses many problems, such as heavypollution and energy consumption. In order to reduce carbon emission, this thesisconstructed a traffic distribution optimization mode of urban passenger traffic system.First, this thesis analyzed current research, defined concept of urban passenger trafficdistribution, consulted the traditional optimization principles, and advanced a newtransport mechanism. Then, in comparision of current optimization methods, a trafficdistribution optimization model was constructed for urban passenger system based onlow-carbon economy. The model can meet the requirements of social, economy andenvironment, and also calculate a reasonable traffic distribution, for making sure thepassenger traffic system in the situation of maximum travel residents’ needs, lowest cost, and least carbon emission. Based on cost analysis and reducing carbon emission, thisthesis tested the model’s feasibility. Moreover, data which was obtained from statisticalyearbook, government department and questionnaire was imported into the model, toderive the proposed traffic scheme. Finally, some improvement measures were proposed for providing theoreticalguidance for traffic management department.
