With the emergence of new technology, new application and new model, thebroadband internet industry, an important part of emerging industries, penetrates toother industries and fields more and more rapidly, and plays an important role in thenational economy and each social field. Stimulated by the more and more intensifiedmarket competition, the telecom operators who provide the broadband access serviceadopt various strategies to grab the market share. Facing the fierce competition inbroadband business market, Hezhou Telecom, the dominant enterprise in Hezhoubroadband market, must perform careful and comprehensive analysis on the broadbandbusiness market, and make full use of the precious development opportunities as well asthe core advantages, to find a broadband business development path which suits forHezhou Telecom itself.An integration of theory and practice, namely, the field studies of the HezhouTelecom and the theories on strategic management, is introduced in this paper for theresearch on the broadband business strategy of Hezhou Telecom. The purpose is topromote Hezhou Telecom to establish and maintain its developing competitiveadvantage in the keen competition of broadband business. Firstly, this paper explainsthe importance of broadband internet to the development of each social field and toHezhou Telecom, and analyzes the overall development of broadband business inHezhou and domestic markets in recent years. Secondly, it describes the current statusand excising problems of broadband business in Hezhou market, and analyzes HezhouTelecom’s position in the competition of broadband business by five-force model.Finally, in terms of the overall strategic target of China Telecom and the broadbandbusiness development strategic target of Hezhou Telecom, it provides specificcompetitive strategies and comprehensive supporting measures by combining theresearch on Hezhou Telecom’s position in the competition of broadband business.
