The Study Of Decoupling Between Economic Growth And Energy Consumption In Jiangsu Province

In human social and economic development process,with the advent of industrytime,economic development has been supported by energy resources,while energy usein economic development has brought environment pollution.And because of thescarcity of energy resources,as the amount of energy consumed by economic develop-ment accumulates,economic development has been have to face to the stock of energyconstraints.Since the “World Conference on Sustainable Development”in Rio de Jane-iro in1992,the correlation between economic growth and environment has been moreand more concerned.Energy use is undoubtedly an important variable which influenc-es the links of economic growth and environment.Therefore,the study of the relation-ship between economic growth and energy consumption is particularly important.Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) proposed theconcept “decoupling”in2002,as a study way to block the links of two variables.Theconcept provedes a very meaningful theory guidance to research the relationship ofeconomic growth and energy consumption.At present,China’s economic and socialdevelopment has gradually entered a period of “quality concern” under the guidanceof the thought that “sustainable development strategy”,”new industralizationroad”,”energy saving” and “consumption reducing”.The economic of Jiangsu provinc-e is an improtant part in China’s economic.And Jiangsu province is also anenergy-poor province,economic development has been increasingly binded by energy.To achieve the “decoupling”of economic growth and energy consumption is an urgentproblem for Jiangsu province.This article use “decoupling” idea and “decoupling target” to study the decoupli-ng condition of economic growth and energy consumption.of Jiangsu province.At thesame time,the use of variable parameters model of the form of state-space in this arti-cle is to explore the factors which affect decoupling.As a result,the article finds thatthere is no real decoupling relationship between economic growth and energy consu-mption in Jiangsu province in the total level and industry levell.Variable parametersmodel of the factors affecting energy consumption reveals that economicgrowth,industrial structure,energy efficiency and energy prices have an impact ontotal energy consumption,and the impact extent changes over time.
