This paper describes the basic principles of lean production and introduces some toolsand methods of lean production. This paper studies the application of lean production in aninjection molding company(W company) according to the author’s consulting experience inmanufacturing.This paper analyzes problems of W company by combining modern leanmanufacturing management theory, and how to solve these problems by using lean productionmanagement methods in such an intensely competitive market condition.This paper describes the main implementation activities of lean production project in Wcompany. Through analysis and evaluation, we found out three main issues in W company:the man-machine coordination with the low utilization of personnel; abnormal working hourswas focus on the exchange of mold, the time to change a mold was too long;there was stillroom for production quality improvement. According to three issues, we have planned threeimprovement programs: improve utilization of personnel by using man-machine analysis;implementation of SMED to improve the speed of changing mold; quality improvementactivities to enhance the production yield. By implementing the improve program, weeliminated a lot of waste and non-value-added jobs and improved the production efficiency inW company. We also reduced the production cost and enhanced product competitiveness.Thispaper would have a positive significance for implementation of lean production project insimilar manufacturing enterprises.
