The Influence Of International Entrepreneurial Orientation On Foreign Direct Investment Performance

With the rising of globalization and encouragement of Go Global policy of China. Zhejiang province has always been top one in term of the amount of entreprises and subsidiaries overseas in recent years. Especially, the private entreprises in Zhejiang have been the main force commited to foreign direct investment (FDI) activities. Traditional theories have dicussed the motivations of FDI activities systematically from economic and organizational perspectives, while few researches studied this subject from the entrepreneurial perspective and the results of FDI activities have been a topic with few research. Actually, FDI is more entrepreneurially characterized than simple exports.This paper started with the topic of entrepreneurial orientation, elaborated the construct of international entrepreneurial orientation (IEO) and explored how IEO influenced FDI performance. Centring on this issue, this paper tried to solve the following questions:Is IEO a single dimensional construct or a multi-dimensional construct? How does each dimension of IEO influence FDI performance? What role does organization learning play in the process of FDI?Based on the literature review about FDI theories. IEO theories and organization learning theories, this paper constructed a research model and proposed a few hypotheses, and drew some conclusions through the data analysis with112Zhejiang private entriprises:first. IEO is a three-dimensional construct containing innovationess, proactiveness and risk taking; second, the innovationess and proactiveness dimension of IEO have significant effects on explorative and exploitive learning and FDI performance, while the risk taking dimension has non-significant effect on the three variables:third, explorative learning mediate the relationships between innovationess dimension and FDI performance and the same for proactiveness dimension, exploitive learning also plays the role of mediate variable.This paper tried to figure out the conception and dimensions of IEO, and look deep into how IEO influence FDI performance, then to expand and fulfill the research of FDI and entrepreneurial orientation areas. It also tried to offer advice for Zhejiang private entreprises on choosing and cultivating IEO, valuing organization learning and coordinating it with IEO, so as to obtain super FDI performance and long-term development in the fierce global competition.
