Research On The Coordinated Development Of Economy And Environment Of Jilin Province

China has achieved remarkable economy goals, but the natural environment issuffering more and more damage. The increasingly serious environmental pollution isattracting more and more attention on environmental protection and sustainabledevelopment has now become China’s basic national policy. Jilin Province, like otherparts of the country is developing rapidly since the reform and opening up, but at thesame time environment is facing more and more challenges. It becomes a hot topicamong scholars on how to protect the environment while developing fast at the sametime. Economy development is the key to solve the contradiction betweenenvironmental protection and economy development. Therefore, the study ofeconomy and environmental development of Jilin Province is of great significance.This paper is based on the research of cycle economics, environmentaleconomics and sustainable development, and other related theories. Referencing toresults of previous studies, the index system of economy and environmental isestablished.The index system consists of two parts: the comprehensive evaluationindex system of economy development and the comprehensive evaluation indexsystem of environment. The data is from Jilin Statistical Yearbook from1996to2012.The value is in the range of0to1. Referring to the results of previous studies, Iapply principal component analysis in calculation. To further analyze the status ofeconomy and environmental development of Jilin, this paper introduces the economyand environmental coordinated development index model using the data in yearsfrom1996to2012to calculate the degree of harmony between the environment andeconomy in Jilin The results showed that comprehensive environmental evaluationindex of Jilin is on the rise before2008, and reached a peak in2008, followed by adecline until2012.But the peak is still some distance away. What can be seen from that is that economy of Jilin Province is bounded by the financial crisis in2008, whichexperienced the down process until recent. Jilin needs to grasp opportunities todevelop as well as protect the environment. Comprehensive evaluation index ofeconomy development has been analyzed later. In2012, the comprehensive evaluationindex economy development starts to decline. Through the analysis of coordinateddevelopment of the economy and environmental, we found that Jilin experienced fourperiods from1996to2012. Finally, on the basis of the comprehensive analysis of theprevious part, some advice is raised to promote the coordinated development ofeconomy and environment of Jilin Province.
