Urban road urban road intersections is an important part of the network, but also the urbanroad traffic bottleneck in the area, many accidents occur at intersections and around, most of thetraffic congestion phenomenon also occurs in the vicinity of the intersection. Set it is reasonableor not directly related to the relevant line and the whole road network traffic function of the play,it is for urban road mobility, capacity, network capacity and traffic safety has a greater impact. So,on the settlement of urban traffic congestion problems and improve the overall capacity of theroad network, how to optimize the design of intersection improvements, improve the trafficcapacity of the intersection is extremely important. In this paper, traffic flow theory, and in-depthanalysis of intersection traffic operation mechanism, based on the intersection of urban roadtraffic organization and drainage design theory and methods of a more comprehensive analysisand research that seeks to ease urban traffic problems and effective way.First, from the intersection of motor vehicles, non-motor vehicle and pedestrian traffic flowcharacteristics three, analyzes summed urban road intersection traffic flow characteristics of theeight, and various characteristics of the intersection traffic organization and design of drainageand requirements; urban road intersections from form and capacity to analyze, summarize andanalyze a variety of forms the main intersection defects and for occasions.Secondly, through the traffic flow characteristics analysis, proposed different forms indifferent circumstances intersection drainage design method and its application conditions;weighted approach to establish a generalized mass value function constructed intersection trafficorganization and canalization comprehensive evaluation index system design, implementation ofthe program for the intersection design, providing a scientific basis.Finally, Bao’an District, Shenzhen a regional transportation improvement projects as thebasis, an increase of traffic survey design specific programs to set intersection channelization andsignal status, combined with the text of the proposed theory and method, proposed within theregion intersection traffic Organization and drainage design optimization program, with themicroscopic traffic simulation tool VISSIM, demonstrate the rationality of design and feasibility.
